Socially Organized Educative Team (SOET) is a community-based charity organization that was established in 1997 as a community initiative aimed at addressing social issues affecting the people of Mt. Elgon Region, located in Bungoma County, Kenya.

Household Economic Strengthening

SOET offers training and support to families to help them generate income, start small businesses, and become self-reliant. This has helped many families to improve their economic status and become more resilient to financial shocks.

Food Security

SOET promotes food security through agricultural training and support, as well as the distribution of farm inputs and seeds. This has helped to increase food production and reduce the incidence of hunger and malnutrition.

Education Support

SOET supports education through scholarships and learning materials, as well as the provision of school infrastructure and facilities. This has helped to increase access to education and improve the quality of education in the region.

Care and Child Protection

SOET works to promote the rights of children, protect them from abuse, neglect, and exploitation, and provide psychosocial support to those who have experienced trauma. This has helped to create a safer and more supportive environment for children in the community.

Health Support

SOET provides medical services, including testing and treatment of HIV/AIDS, as well as raising awareness about HIV/AIDS prevention and promoting healthy lifestyles. This has helped to reduce the incidence of HIV/AIDS and improve the overall health of the community.

Psychosocial Support

SOET provides psychosocial support to individuals and families who have experienced trauma, including child abuse and neglect, as well as those affected by HIV/AIDS. This has helped to promote mental health and wellbeing in the community.

Climate Change

SOET promotes climate change awareness and encourages the adoption of sustainable environmental practices, such as tree planting and conservation of natural resources. This has helped to mitigate the impact of climate change and protect the environment.

Civic Education

SOET offers civic education to the community to empower them to participate in governance processes and decision-making. This has helped to promote transparency, accountability, and good governance in the region.
