Welcome to SOET

Socially Organized Educative Team (SOET) is a community-based charity organization that was established in 1997 as a community initiative aimed at addressing social issues affecting the people of Mt. Elgon Region, located in Bungoma County, Kenya. SOET was officially registered on 31st May 1999, and it operates under certificate registration number 568.

The organization is based at Kapsokwony and has been providing a range of services to the community for more than two decades. SOET's main objective is to promote sustainable development and improve the living standards of the people in the Mt. Elgon Region.

Vision

Our vision is to be a catalyst for positive change, creating a just society that will transform the lives of individuals and ensuring that every child has the chance to reach their full potential and contribute meaningfully to society.

Mission

Our mission is to empower individuals and communities through education, advocacy, and collaborative partnerships to build sustainable solutions to social issues.
 

Over the years, it has experienced an exponential growth in service delivery capacity and effectiveness, with various successful projects geared towards alleviating human rights abuse, the spread and impact of HIV/AIDS, poverty, illiteracy, bad governance and environmental degradation problems among the poor people within Mt. Elgon Region.  SOET has participated into various activities aiming at poverty reduction, disease controls, illiteracy reduction, advocating against bad governance, disasters responsiveness, human rights advocacy and environmental conservation.

SOET is a hub for Grassroots Empowerment and Community Based Development Initiatives. We accomplish all these programs by implementing various community based activities addressing challenges faced by Children and Youth, Women and the Girl Child, Orphans and Vulnerable Children, People Living with Aids (PLWHAs) and environment within the Mt. Elgon Region. We strictly adhere to the principles of democracy, equity and non-discrimination.
